CPSC, IKEA Home Furnishings Announce Recall of FÄRGGLAD Multi-Color Children’s Chair

Washington, DC--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--October 15, 2004--In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IKEA, the leading home furnishings retailer with U.S. headquarters in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., is voluntarily recalling 7,279 FÄRGGLAD multicolor children’s chairs (retail price: $14.99) for three-year-olds and up with the article number: 400.548.40. It is possible for the red plastic feet inserted into the chair legs to become detached and pose a choking hazard to young children.

IKEA has not received any report of incidents. This voluntary recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.

The recalled FÄRGGLAD multi-color children’s chair has a tubular steel frame with woven multi-color solid plastic piping used for the chair’s seat and back, and red plastic feet. The name FÄRGGLAD, the product article number (400.548.40) and the supplier number can be found on a label on one of the chair’s rear legs or on the underside of the chair seat. The relevant supplier numbers are: 17128, country of origin Vietnam and 16592, country of origin China.

IKEA U.S. stores sold the FÄRGGLAD multi-color children’s chair from May 2003 through September 18, 2004. Consumers should take the FÄRGGLAD multi-color children’s chair away from young children immediately and return them to the Returns and Exchanges department at an IKEA U.S. store for a full refund. IKEA apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
